Greymane Camp

The Greymane camp is Kliff's base in Crimson Desert, founded at Howling Hill in Chapter 3 and later moved to Pailune, where you recruit comrades, send them on dispatch missions, farm, keep pets and fish, and furnish a house. Free updates since March 2026 added house layouts, outdoor housing and ten times the camp funds from donations, and Charting the Unknown brings an upgraded Housing mode on Oct 29, 2026.

The Greymane camp is Kliff's base in Crimson Desert: he founds it at Howling Hill in Chapter 3 and later moves it to Pailune, and there you recruit comrades, send them on dispatch missions, farm and ranch, keep pets and fish, and furnish a house of your own. It is the game's answer to its premise. Pearl Abyss's launch trailer opens on a torch-lit band of Greymanes and the words "It's time. To take back what was stolen", and an enemy sneers that "You Greymanes are a hard lot to kill": the Black Bears have scattered the faction, and the camp is where Kliff rebuilds it. Pearl Abyss's third features video before launch, "Life in Pywel", was about "the Greymane camp that anchors your travels" (Steam news, Feb 12, 2026).

Founding the camp

Kliff founds the camp in Chapter 3, "Howling Hill" in Game Rant's chapter list, on land granted by Marquis Serkis of House Hernand, and Damiane joins the Greymanes there, according to TheGamer's camp guide (Apr 27, 2026). Raising the banner at Howling Hill Camp unlocks housing, as a fix in patch 2.02.00 confirms. Later in the story the camp moves to Pailune, the Greymanes' homeland; Pearl Abyss's notes keep the details behind spoiler dropdowns but confirm that furniture moves with it (1.04.02, Apr 24, 2026). The chapters around the move are on Main Quests and Chapters.

Comrades and dispatch missions

The camp fills with the Greymanes Kliff finds again. Alec Newman, Kliff's English voice, says in Pearl Abyss's "Meet the Cast" video that Kliff can seem "a closed book", but "when you meet him with other characters, particularly his Greymanes, his people, you begin to see him open out". TheGamer counts a roster of just under 40 comrades, each with skills such as Builder, Hunter or Warrior.

Comrades go out on dispatch missions: production, combat (suppression), construction and rumor missions in TheGamer's list. Pearl Abyss's notes have kept adjusting them: since 1.04.00 a mission can run once or repeat, since 1.06.00 stronghold dispatch, exploration and excavation missions can repeat (notes), the dispatch menu lists comrades with the needed skills first (1.09.00) and sorts missions by type rather than region (1.10.00), and 2.01.00 added a "Gold Bar Investment Mission" (Sep 4, 2026). Carl at the camp runs the Greymane Contribution Shop and an item recovery service, and since 1.00.03 sells restorative items for 1 Silver instead of 10.

Expansion and camp funds

The camp grows in five expansion stages. Each one raises the Private Storage: by 100 slots for each of the first four and 360 for the last, from 240 to 1,000 slots (1.02.00, Apr 4, 2026). TheGamer says expansions unlock dispatch, the Farm and Ranch, more mission slots, a wagon, a hot air balloon and a Trade Wagon. Expansion also decides which house layouts you can pick.

Expansions and research are paid for with Camp Funds, which come from donations and missions. Patch 1.18.00 changed research to cost camp funds instead of silver (Aug 15, 2026), and 2.01.00 made silver donations give 10 times the funds (Sep 4, 2026). Weapons can be donated too; Demenissian Chainsaws joined the list in 2.00.00.

Farm and ranch

Pywel is farm country, and the camp has its own Farm and Ranch. Pearl Abyss's "50 Minutes of Early Gameplay" from 2024, a pre-release build, shows Kliff riding a dirt track between fenced plots and farm buildings. At the camp you plant seeds and keep livestock that eat from a feed bin; patch 1.03.00 expanded the farm and ranch areas in Pailune camp, and 1.09.00, which Pearl Abyss's update chart lists as "Farming Content Improvements", lets seeds go on quick slots (May 29, 2026). In its June roadmap Pearl Abyss promised more work on "non-combat content, such as trading and farming" (Jun 2, 2026). Livestock can be sold to the Rancher.

Housing

Kliff's house at the camp is yours to furnish in Housing mode, and the DLC upgrades it. The Charting the Unknown reveal trailer shows a manor rising over green country, then a room built wall by wall in a top-down building view and a finished house with a balcony. The Steam page promises you can "build a home that's truly your own with the upgraded Housing mode" when the DLC arrives on Oct 29, 2026.

Housing has grown with nearly every update:

  • 1.04.00 (Apr 23, 2026): Select House, with Compact, Standard, Spacious and Spacious Pailunese layouts unlocked by camp expansion; the Kuku Cooler, Sturdy Gatherables Chest, Collectibles Chest and a Wardrobe with outfit storage; one button to take back all furniture (notes).
  • 1.08.00 (May 22, 2026): chairs you can sit in naturally (notes).
  • 1.10.00 (Jun 5, 2026): a Carpet category (notes).
  • 1.12.00 (Jun 19, 2026): outdoor housing, to decorate the area outside the house, and 58 new items: 4 tools, 10 Sotdaes, 7 fountains, 6 wells, 8 braziers, 6 streetlights, 4 carpets, 6 hanging planters, 4 automata toys, a music box and 2 pet furniture items, crafted at the new Workstation and Loom (notes).
  • 1.13.00 (Jul 3, 2026): pets rest with you in bed, and four carpet recipes (notes).

Placed furniture stays when the camp expands, but changing the house layout takes it all back into storage (1.04.02). Crafting the furniture is on Cooking and Crafting.

The pond and the pets

The camp keeps animals. Since 1.08.00 (May 22, 2026) a pond construction mission builds a pond at Howling Hill and at Pailune Camp: fish you release breed at a rate that depends on the species, too many can die, and one legendary fish lives there for good (notes). Up to 50 of your pets can be out at the camp at once, and the minimap shows them there; the full list is on Pets.

In Charting the Unknown

Charting the Unknown, the DLC due on Oct 29, 2026, takes the camp further, Pearl Abyss said on Oct 20, 2026: upgraded housing, close friends who visit the camp once it is upgraded far enough, rentable businesses, and three castles that the Greymanes can liberate and claim after the main story, with courtyards and interiors to decorate. Its sailing questline opens after the camp is set up at Howling Hill.
