Oongka
Oongka is one of Kliff's Greymane comrades in Crimson Desert and a playable character from Chapter 7, according to Game Rant: a slow, heavy fighter with massive axes and arm cannons, voiced in English by Stewart Scudamore. Updates since launch gave him Axiom Force, unarmed skills, Devastation, Blackstar and the Abyss.
Oongka is one of Kliff's comrades in the Greymanes and the third playable character of Crimson Desert, unlocked in Chapter 7, according to Game Rant: a slow, destructive fighter with massive axes and arm cannons that only he can use. Stewart Scudamore, his English voice, describes him in Pearl Abyss's "Meet the Cast" video (Feb 25, 2026) as "a nomadic warrior" with a passion for the cause, "for his people, for his tribe, and for the Greymanes". Since the game came out on Mar 19, 2026, Pearl Abyss has given him a stream of new skills and access, from Axiom Force in April to Blackstar and the Abyss in the summer.

Who Oongka is
Oongka fought beside Kliff before the story begins. Pearl Abyss's description of its "50 Minutes of Early Gameplay" (Sep 12, 2024, a pre-release build), which opens on the Black Bears' night attack, names him first among the comrades the assault scatters: "Oongka, Yann, and Naira". Finding him again is part of Kliff's search; Oongka returns to the story when the war reaches Pailune, the Greymanes' homeland.
Scudamore says Oongka surprised him. Roles like this usually ask for a "very bestial, very feisty, very bombastic" delivery, he explains in "Meet the Cast", but Oongka was "more of a philosophical Orc. Educated if you'd like", with "that sort of world-wise, nomadic element". (Pearl Abyss's own text does not name Oongka's people; Scudamore's word is the only one in its material.)
How to unlock Oongka
Oongka becomes playable in Chapter 7, "Homecoming", during the quest "Decisive Battle": when Kliff is incapacitated at Ashclaw Keep, the player takes over as Oongka, according to Game Rant (Mar 19, 2026). Once he is unlocked he can be chosen on the Character Wheel, explore freely and take on side quests, and follow Kliff or Damiane as a companion with "Gather", though companions do not fight bosses. Pearl Abyss's patch 1.18.00 (Aug 15, 2026) fixed a block in the Chapter 7 quest "Time to Face Justice" for players who switched to Oongka before meeting Torstein. See Main Quests and Chapters.
How Oongka fights
Oongka hits hard and moves slowly. Game Rant calls him a destructive tank with massive axes and arm cannons; Pearl Abyss's patch notes also show him with greathammers, dual weapons, hand cannons on his gloves, and the Kuku Rocket Pack. "Meet the Cast" plays his battle cry, "Prepare yourselves, to take back what was stolen. For our fallen brothers... show no mercy!", and Scudamore says the hardest part of the role was finding the levels of Oongka's grunts. Combat covers the system all three share.
His skills named in Pearl Abyss's notes include Scatter Shot (a cannon blast), Vertical Flight, Explosive Leap, Explosive Strike, Quaking Fury, Charge, Spinning Strike, Restrain, Aerial Grapple and Devastation.
Skills by update
Pearl Abyss's Dev Update of Apr 10, 2026 promised Damiane and Oongka skills to match Kliff's Force Palm and Axiom Force; its Jun 2 update promised that "all three playable characters can get a share of the spotlight". Oongka's additions, from the official patch notes:
- 1.00.02 (Mar 19, 2026): a follow-up attack to his dual-wield stab.
- 1.03.00 (Apr 11, 2026): Axiom Force and Nature's Snare; Scatter Shot now works like Kliff's Force Palm.
- 1.04.00 (Apr 23, 2026): a skill with the effect of Kliff's Focused Force Palm.
- 1.06.00 (May 11, 2026): unarmed skills under "Fists" in the skill menu; Kliff can wear some of Oongka's outfits, and Oongka gets the Greymane Cloth Cloak.
- 1.07.00 (May 15, 2026): Aerial Stab, and a charge phase for Explosive Strike.
- 1.08.00 (May 22, 2026): a skill equivalent to Focused Aerial Roll.
- 1.09.00 (May 29, 2026): Devastation, a fiery ground shockwave, used with the input of Kliff's Blinding Flash Finisher.
- 1.11.00 (Jun 12, 2026): the Mining Drill and Chainsaw.
- 1.12.00 (Jun 19, 2026): he can ride Blackstar, equip Visiones and read memories.
- 1.13.00 (Jul 3, 2026): he can enter the Abyss, puzzles can be solved with Scatter Shot, and he can wear most of Kliff's outfits and Kuku equipment.
- 1.14.00 (Jul 16, 2026): Damiane's Skystep moved to the same input as his Vertical Flight.
Crimson Desert Enhanced and Abyss Links
Crimson Desert Enhanced (patch 2.00.00, Aug 25, 2026) changed how Oongka learns skills. It added Abyss Links, a resource shared by the three characters: whenever one learns a skill with an Abyss Artifact, the other two receive the same number of Abyss Links to spend on their own skills. Each character's skills can now be reset separately, and the update reset everyone's once, refunding all Abyss Artifacts. It also reduced the damage companions take. See Skills and Abyss Artifacts.
In Charting the Unknown
Oongka is part of what comes next. Steam's page for Charting the Unknown (Oct 29, 2026) says players "follow Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane as they forge their own paths forward", and the DLC's pre-order bonus is the Charter's Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka. The game's launch trailer (Mar 12, 2026) opened on the same call his battle cry makes, over a tusked warrior lit by a torch: "It's time. To take back what was stolen."
