Crimson Desert Enhanced
Crimson Desert Enhanced is the free 2.00.00 update of Aug 25, 2026 that every Crimson Desert owner gets on every platform, adding new cutscenes and story moments, voice-over in German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese, Arabic text and every earlier update. It is not a remaster or a paid version; the stores now sell the game under that name.
Crimson Desert Enhanced is the free 2.00.00 update of Aug 25, 2026 that every owner of Crimson Desert gets on every platform: "a free update to the base game" adding "new cutscenes and story moments throughout the main questline", voice-over in German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese, Arabic interface and subtitles, and all the updates before it (Pearl Abyss). It is not a remaster or a separate purchase; since that day the stores sell the game itself as Crimson Desert Enhanced. Its announcement trailer opens on the story it reworked: a burning camp at night, a hooded figure among fighters with torches, and a man lit blue beneath a ring of light, as a voice says "Our strength failed us. You failed us" and another answers "You've surmounted countless trials to reach this summit."

Announcement
Pearl Abyss announced Crimson Desert Enhanced at gamescom Opening Night Live on Aug 25, 2026 and released it the same day, five months after the game's Mar 19 launch: "Crimson Desert is becoming Crimson Desert Enhanced", "available for free to all existing owners on all platforms" (Pearl Abyss). Patch 2.00.00 went out at once on Steam (PC and Mac), PlayStation, Xbox, the Epic Games Store and the Mac App Store, according to its patch notes, though Apple's version history dates the Mac App Store build Aug 31.
The trailer names its parts in turn: "Updated with new story moments" over a man in the snow; then "Expanded voice-over & language support"; then "Includes all post-launch updates to date", over fights in a hall of white columns, by a camp and in a burst of purple light. Its voices speak of the story's turning points: "This time, you will surely break the cycle", and "Face your foe. Because that's the Kliff I know."
What changed in 2.00.00
The story was the part reviewers such as Eurogamer liked least, and Pearl Abyss had promised in June to refine "the coherence of key scenes". Patch 2.00.00 improved the main story's narrative flow and added knowledge entries, items, memory fragments and dialogue about the bosses (patch notes). Its other changes:
- Abyss Link. A new skill resource shared by Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. Every character's skill progression was reset and refunded once, so each player could spend it again (Skills and Abyss Artifacts).
- Eight new skills for Kliff, unlocked at points in the main story. The notes do not name them.
- A new game with your progress. After every main quest is done, Abyss Links and currency carry into a new game. It is not a classic New Game Plus; 2.03.00 later added 1,000 or more silver for a new game started from an existing save.
- Flying Mount Controls, a setting with Camera or Manual steering for flying mounts (Mounts).
- Golden Star in phases. The fight against Golden Star was split into phases.
- Double Jump early. Bilwise now gives Double Jump in Chapter 2's quest "Unexpected Gift".
Languages
Before Enhanced, Crimson Desert was voiced in English, Korean and Simplified Chinese only. The trailer's closing card sums up what changed, with the flags of Germany, France, Spain, Brazil and Japan beside "Expanded voice-over" and the Arabic words for Arabic beside "Subtitles & interface". On Oct 20, 2026 Steam listed interface and subtitles in 15 languages and full audio in eight: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Portuguese (Brazil) (Steam). Pearl Abyss's language guide explains how to change the voice language on each platform (notice).
Hotfixes after Enhanced
Two quick fixes followed. 2.00.01 on Aug 28, 2026 fixed how Arabic text displayed, partly improved lip-sync in cutscenes and fixed a launch problem on Steam for Mac; 2.00.02 on Sep 1 improved lip-sync in more cutscenes (2.00.01 and 2.00.02 notes). Later 2.x updates, up to 2.03.02 of Sep 23, 2026, are on Patch Notes.
Enhanced against the launch version
Enhanced keeps the same game, map and engine; the launch trailer of Mar 12, 2026 shows what it built on, with riders on green plains and fights in red desert country. What separates a copy updated today from the launch version is the 2.00.00 story work above plus everything the free updates added in between, by Pearl Abyss's count on Aug 12, 2026 "17 patches, with more than 20 new features and content additions, 120 new mounts and pets, and 70 new outfits, equipment, and items":
| Launch (Mar 19, 2026) | Enhanced (Aug 25, 2026 and after) | |
|---|---|---|
| Difficulty | One setting | Easy, Normal and Hard (1.04.00) |
| Bosses | Fought once | Rematches of any defeated boss (1.05.00) |
| Voices | English, Korean, Simplified Chinese | Plus German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese |
| Saves | One platform | Cross-save across PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic (1.14.00), Mac (2.02.00) |
| Mounts and pets | Horses and story mounts | Summonable and tamed mounts, wyverns, up to 100 pets |
| Skills | Per character | Shared Abyss Links, eight more for Kliff |
| After the story | The world stays open | A new game that carries progress over |
The first sale
Enhanced came with Crimson Desert's first sale: 20% off on every platform from Aug 24 or 25 to Sep 9 or 10, 2026, depending on the platform and region (Pearl Abyss); the trailer ends on "20% off, available now" over the logos of PS5, Xbox, Steam, the Mac App Store and the Epic Games Store. On Oct 20, 2026 the game was back at $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $79.99 for the Deluxe Edition (Editions and Price).
How to get it
Anyone who owns Crimson Desert gets Enhanced by updating the game to 2.00.00 or later; there is nothing to buy or claim, and saves carry on. A new player buys the game, now listed as Crimson Desert Enhanced, and gets it already updated. It is also the base game that Charting the Unknown, the first paid DLC, needs on Oct 29, 2026.
