Queen Stoneback Crab
The Queen Stoneback Crab is a giant crab boss in Crimson Desert's Delesyia whose back is a mossy hill of rock and minerals; you beat her by climbing onto her back, breaking the mineral deposits to expose glowing weak points and piercing them, then smashing the pots on her back in the second phase (Game Rant and TheGamer). Her desert cousin, the Queen Bismuth Oreback Crab, got a new attack pattern in update 1.12.00.
The Queen Stoneback Crab is a giant crab boss in Crimson Desert's Delesyia, so big that her shell looks like a mossy hill: in Pearl Abyss's gamescom 2024 video, made in a pre-release demo build, what seems to be a grassy boulder heaves out of the ground and throws Kliff aside. You beat her by climbing onto her back, breaking the mineral deposits there to expose glowing weak points and piercing them with your blade, then smashing the pots on her back in the second of two phases, according to Game Rant's guide; TheGamer's describes the same climb (TheGamer, Apr 23, 2026). She is optional, the end of a Redfox Merchants questline, and one of the seven "New Power Challenges" hunts in Game Rant's list.

Where to find her
The Queen Stoneback Crab is reached through the Redfox Merchants. Talk to the bard Diederik at the Redfox Trading Post, southwest of Beardtree Gorge, to start "The Wolf's Ballad", which leads into "The Queen's Lake"; TheGamer says the quest opens once you have reached the Greymane camp in Chapter 3, and puts her at the center of a lake in northern Delesyia (TheGamer). Game Rant's boss list names the place Stoneback Crab Wetlands (Game Rant, Apr 1, 2026) and its hunt guide says the mission stays locked until you complete enough Delesyia faction quests (Game Rant, Mar 25, 2026).
In Pearl Abyss's 2024 video the hunt starts with a guide. Kliff crosses a green, boulder-strewn valley below red cliffs and meets a man in a red cap and green coat with a pickaxe, who chips at a cluster of pale crystals in the grass while they talk.
Phase one: climb and pierce
The only way to hurt her is from on top. In the video Kliff scales the mossy shell, crowned with red and orange mineral growths, and strikes at the deposits on its crest as she moves beneath him. Game Rant's method: climb her back with Jump and Triple Force Jump, destroy the crystals, then use Cling (R3) to hold on and Pierce (R2) on the glowing green cracks. TheGamer counts three weak points, near the top, in the center and on the right side, each worth about a third of her health; pierce one, then pull your blade free for heavy damage, and hold the left stick to cling on so she cannot throw you off.
Falling off is part of the fight. The video's camera pulls high above the wetland of cliffs, pools and trees as Kliff drops from her back, then bright blasts flare around the shell. TheGamer notes that Explosive Arrows fired from a vantage point also fill her stun meter and stop her moving, especially with the Infinite Arrows Abyss Gear, though you still have to climb up to pierce the weak points.
Phase two: the pots
Once all three weak points are hit her shield breaks, and the end comes fast. In the video the top of the shell glows yellow and green, bursts apart and leaves a scatter of red fragments on the grass, before a golden sigil glows in the air. Game Rant says the second phase is about smashing the ceramic pots on her back; TheGamer describes clay deposits near the crown of her head that deal massive damage once the shield is down.
Rewards
Beyond the gems around the lake (TheGamer mentions Garnet and Epidote), Diederik pays 1 Abyss Artifact, 2 Diamonds, 3 Garnet, 4 Epidote and 5 Azurite when the quest is done, according to TheGamer. The Abyss Artifact is the game's resource for health, stamina and skills (Skills and Abyss Artifacts).
Smaller Stoneback Crabs
Ordinary Stoneback Crabs come in smaller sizes across the region. Pearl Abyss's update 1.01.00 on Mar 28, 2026 changed small and medium Stoneback Crabs to fall backward when hit by Force Palm (notice 76; Combat).
Queen Bismuth Oreback Crab
The Queen Bismuth Oreback Crab is the desert version of the fight, in the Valley of Grief in the Crimson Desert region. Game Rant says it opens after enough Crimson Desert faction quests, starting with helping the goblin town in "War Song of the Dusk", and that the hunt, "The Oreback Crab in the Desert", is in the Sage of the Desert tab. The method is the same climb: stun it with Turning Slash, break the bismuth with your weapon, then Cling and Pierce the glowing cracks, and smash the pots to finish (Game Rant). Pearl Abyss "added a new attack pattern for the Queen Bismuth Oreback Crab" in update 1.12.00 on Jun 19, 2026 (notice 100).
