White Horn

White Horn, Shepherd of Souls, is a giant antlered, white-furred beast boss in Crimson Desert's Pailune, fought in a snowstorm in three phases; Game Rant's guide says Flame Strike sets its fur alight and forces it to stop and roll. The Clockwork White Horn of Delesyia is a different, mechanical boss.

White Horn, Shepherd of Souls, is a giant beast boss in Crimson Desert's region of Pailune: a white-furred creature with great antlers that fights in a blizzard, crushing, pounding and charging at Kliff. Pearl Abyss showed the fight first, in a video released on Aug 19, 2024 ahead of gamescom, from a pre-release demo build; in the finished game, released on Mar 19, 2026 (Mar 20 in Asia), it is an optional boss at the end of a Pailune faction questline with three phases, according to Game Rant. Fire is its weakness in the guides, and it is one of the bosses of the Knowledge tab's Pailune list (Bosses).

Where to find White Horn

White Horn waits behind Pailune's faction quests. Game Rant's full boss list places it at Snowhaven Hearth, through the Skoghorn faction quest "White Horn of Snowhaven Hearth" (Game Rant, Apr 1, 2026). Its guide to the seven "New Power Challenges" hunts lists White Horn among them: the mission "Deep-Rotted Sorrow" appears in the Skoghorn Tribe tab once enough Pailune faction quests are done, starts at Skoghorn Farm and climbs the Argent Peaks in the west (Game Rant, Mar 25, 2026).

The fight

The way in is a fight of its own. In Pearl Abyss's video, Kliff first faces a band of fur-clad fighters on a snowy, rocky slope, trading shield blows and knocking them down in the snow, before the beast appears.

White Horn arrives out of the snow. The beast bursts from a drift beside a boulder, and once its health bar appears at the top of the screen the storm thickens around the arena. Pearl Abyss's press release for the video describes how White Horn "disappears into the whirlwind of snow and wind surrounding the battlefield, then launches quick charges" (Pearl Abyss, Aug 19, 2024).

Up close, it overpowers. The video shows the beast seizing and slamming Kliff, who is knocked down into the snow: the press release's "ape-like fists" and "massive body to crush players". Its attacks grow fiercer with each phase, Pearl Abyss wrote: the boss "becomes more aggressive with each phase".

Ranged fire helps. In the 2024 build a fiery explosion bursts against the beast, and a little later Kliff opens his equipment menu with an Explosive Arrow selected. Game Rant's advice for the finished game is the same idea: Flame Strike sets White Horn's fur on fire, which makes it stop and roll on the ground and gives you an opening to attack (Game Rant).

In the last part of the fight the health bar turns red and the charges keep coming through the whiteout, broken by a burst of blue light as Kliff strikes back.

The video ends with a finishing blow: Kliff drives his blade in amid a spray of blood, and the beast lies still in the snow as he stands over it.

How to beat White Horn

The guides' advice, summed up (Game Rant's, not Pearl Abyss's):

  • Bring fire. Flame Strike, or fire-imbued attacks, set its fur alight and stop its offense while it rolls.
  • Watch the storm. It hides in the snow and charges out of it; keep your guard and dodge ready when it vanishes.
  • Expect three phases. It grows more aggressive as its health falls, so save food for the last third.
  • Set your difficulty. Easy (since 1.04.00 on Apr 23, 2026) widens the parry and dodge windows and makes bosses counter less often (notice 84; Difficulty and Accessibility).

The Clockwork White Horn

The Clockwork White Horn is a separate boss: a mechanical one in Delesyia, in Game Rant's list of that region's bosses. Pearl Abyss added its rematch in update 1.07.00 on May 15, 2026, at the Gate to Advancement (notice 92), and moved its Memory Fragment in 1.13.00 on Jul 3, 2026, when Oongka and Damiane gained access to the Abyss (notice 105).
